Desmond Tutu

 

Desmond was against apartheid. desmond realized he was treated different just because of the color of his skin color when he was just merely a boy.One day he was walking with his mother and a white priest tipped his hat to his mother. he never thought a white man would pay that kind of respect to any colored human ever that was when he thought that religion was the key.Tutu remembered "They gave you the impression that, in fact, yeah, the sky's the limit. You can, even with all of the obstacles that are placed in your way; you can reach out to the stars." Tutu became increasingly frustrated with the racism corrupting all aspects of South African life under apartheid. Tutu's rise to international prominence began when he became the first black person to be appointed the Anglican Dean of Johannesburg in 1975.(www.biography.com) desmond was a very skilled teacher who taught kids that there not any less than anyone else. Just because the color of their skin.He was born into apartheid history and noticed that he was treated very different from the other white boys and girls.He thought religion was the answer cause whites and blacks can agree on something when it comes to religion.(www.biography.com) He was treated very differently from the other kids.He was treated with less respect because he was black.He was a high valued teacher when he was only 23 and taught black children that they weren't any different from the white kids. after being a teacher for seven years he became a high priest.(www.biography.com)
